  3. Who is the CFPB?

    The CFPB stands for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 established the CFPB.

    Congress established the CFPB to protect consumers by enforcing federal consumer financial laws. Among other things, the CFPB

    • writes rules, supervises companies, and enforces federal consumer financial protection laws;

    • restricts unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices;

    • takes consumer complaints;

    • promotes financial education;

    • researches consumer behavior;

    • monitors financial markets for new risks to consumers; and

    • enforces laws that prohibit discrimination and other unfair treatment in consumer finance.

  4. Is this a scam? How do I verify this is legitimate?

    No, this is not a scam; please be assured that this is a legitimate program. Epiq can verify the tracking number on your check and confirm if your check contains a valid tracking number.

  5. Will I be charged any fees?

    Block does not charge consumers directly or indirectly for Epiq’s services as Settlement Administrator. However, depending on where you choose to deposit your check, there may be fees associated with depositing/cashing the check.

  7. Why did I receive a check?

    Check recipients were identified as consumers eligible for compensation under the terms of the CFPB settlement agreement.

    Block Inc., the parent company of Cash App, has reached an agreement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to resolve a matter principally related to certain aspects of Cash App's historical customer service program and disputes practices during the period from July 1, 2019 through January 16, 2025. The agreement with the CFPB includes compensation for certain affected Cash App consumers.

  8. Can my check issue be expedited?

    We are unable to expedite your check issue request. We issue checks in batches on a rolling basis throughout the year.

  9. I called previously to receive my check but I still have not received it. Where is my check?

    We issue checks in batches on a rolling basis throughout the year.

    If we have requested documentation, please send it to us at your earliest convenience. We will review it and let you know if we need any additional information to approve your issue request. Unfortunately, we do not yet have a firm date for when your check will be mailed.
